About the school
Excelia was founded in 1988 and has over 3200 undergraduate and master’s students across five academic units – Excelia Business School, Excelia Tourism School, Excelia Academy, Excelia Digital School and Excelia Executive Education.
Excelia Business School holds AACSB (US) accreditation and EPAS (EFMD, Europe) for its Master in Management and BBA programmes and TedQual certification (World Tourism Organisation Tourism Education Quality) for its School of Tourism and Hospitality. It is a member of the elite French Conférence des Grandes Ecoles (CGE) network and is consistently rated in the top schools for business and management in national league tables and the Financial Times (Master in Management is ranked 60th in the world in 2016).
As a research-led teaching institution, the School has an active and vibrant community of 56 scholars across five disciplinary research and teaching departments, three transdisciplinary research clusters (Corporate Social Responsibility, Tourism Management, Organisational Agility) and two knowledge transfer Institutes for research cooperation with the corporate world (Institute for Sustainability through Innovation – IRSI and the Tourism Management Institute – TMI).
About the job
The School invites applications for the position of Research Director. The Research Director has a pivotal role assisting in the School’s strategic thinking and execution, by developing, articulating and sustaining an ambitious vision and objectives for the School’s research culture and practice. He/she will lead and promote research, aligned with the School’s distinctive mission and profile, to deliver competitive advantage in its current strengths - CSR, Entrepreneurship and Tourism Management. Responsible for overall research performance, the Director will set standards for accountability with tangible outcomes of output, engagement and impact.
As a faculty position, applicants will contribute to the teaching mission of the School in their area of expertise (90h).
Applicants must have a business related Ph. D, a substantial track record of research success (HDR or equivalent) and at least 5-10 years’ experience as Research Director or similar senior position (Director of a research cluster or institute). They will also evidence high quality own research and outputs evidenced by a strong portfolio of peer-reviewed publications in French and internationally recognised journals (FNEGE rang 1). High level academic credibility together with previous experience at senior level, knowledge or publication standards, prospection of funding sources (public and private) and faculty management in an accredited institution (AACSB and/or EQUIS) are key requirements for the position. Personal specifications include strong leadership skills, achievement oriented, results focussed, relationship management and stakeholder skills.
The salary will be commensurate with the candidate´s experience and qualifications and in line with the Excelia Business School pay scale which includes incentives for research publications.
